4A Beijing Residency
Despite going to bed quite late my eyes sprung open at 7am like clockwork and there’s no going back to sleep. I got up and headed down to the gym for a little lazy cycling before hunting down the buffet breakfast once again. After breakfast it was back to reality for more admin stuff. We checked out by midday and jumped in a taxi to meet up with Veronica and Eugenia at the Today Museum of Contemporary Art. They had a bit of a crap show on so we had coffee and hung out for a bit before heading over to the CAFA Museum. First stop was duck noodles and lemonade, we then wandered around the museum for a while. There was a lot of historical works and I’m a sucker for the absolute perfection of ink drawing but we’re craving contemporary work. We got to experience the Beijing smog and dense choking traffic, might is right on these roads. We were all pretty tired so Veronica ordered us an Uber and we drove back to Shen’s. The trip is way quicker in a car and we were back in the village in no time vowing to catch an Uber next time we head into Beijing. We met one of the new resident artists Silja from Germany and Chuan, a Chinese curator living in Germany. We all had dinner with a bunch of guests and I started flaking out quite early so I headed off to bed to read for a bit before hitting the wall and sacking out.
