A mirror is a device that reflects and extends our perception of reality. Pools of still water, shiny stones, dark polished obsidian, Venetian glass and black screens. Throughout history, literature and mythology, the mirror appears as both portent and portal, allowing its user to see into far distant futures and wield the powers of perception. Taking inspiration from the mirror as both object and symbol, MIRROR IMAGE is an invitation to consider how expression and personal perspective are tools used by artists to share their own reality with the world around them.
